Just when you think the contest is over (well, I guess it pretty much is over for 10 of us), Phil goes 4-0 and Kerry lets down his guard by going 2-2. First place is split between 2 people yet again. With only 3 games left to pick, this could very well end up the same way it did last year, when just Phil and I competed against each other. That contest ended in a tie, and with three seemingly easily-predictable games left (thanks to the overwhelming power of the Rams), Phil's best bet to win the contest may be to pick his team to win the NFC Championship. He is the only one to go undefeated this week, with most of us going 3-1. The Bears proved that they were fake (my contention all year long) and the Rams and Steelers proved that they are for real. With any luck, this year's Super Bowl should be much more interesting than last year's...

Email quotes from the week:

Brad: (commenting on BAL/PIT) "Dear Lord let Pittsburgh win. Baltimore is going to ruin NFL football (as if this league needed any help in destroying the fabric of the game). They try to score 10 pts. And then let the defense punish the other team into submission."
(and commenting on PHI/CHI) "Iím not sure Chicago is ready to experience success in the playoffs. I think they played way above their heads all year and were the beneficiaries of some amazingly lucky breaks. On the other hand, I picked Philly to lose last week, so what the hell do I know."

Cody: "We'll see if... no i take that back... WHEN St. Louis chokes on BRETT FAVRE's smoke that he's going to bring on sunday! Its going to be GREAT!"

Phil: "Yeah, I'll admit I choked last week, but then again a 2-game deficit, as difficult as it is to overcome, has been overcome before in this contest. (I remember Shannon doing that to me last year.) However, this would require Kerry to mess up and the way he's been picking this entire contest, I wouldn't exactly rely on that. Regardless, I'm not changing my style one bit."
