Week 6

October 17 - 18

There are good weeks, and there are GOOD weeks. Lloyd had a really GOOD one this week, coming as close to perfect as we have seen in the history of this contest. Yes, he lost 2 games, but consider that his only errors were SD (who only lost by 1 point) and Detroit (he had never picked against Green Bay, until this week). With that, his 12-2 mark propels him past Shannon and Jason into sole possession of the overall lead. Note that this marks the fifth person so far who has had a piece of first place in the six weeks of this contest.

Matching Lloyd's spectac-ular 12-2 mark is Jay, who failed only in picking Tennessee (just Lloyd, Cody, and Kip tagged the Texans correctly) and Minnesota (Phil alone joined him in audaciously taking the Saints). Jay's great picks save his sea-son, keeping him only 4 games out of the lead. Really this is the third week in a row in which a player has pulled himself out of the muck and back into conten-tion. Last week, that honor went to Shane. Sadly, this week he does himself a complete disservice by not sending any picks. That's all it takes to sink to the bottom in this contest. With compe-tition like we have here, no mercy can be asked for, and none will be given...

Oddly enough, Shane isn't the only one to totally drop the ball this week. Mike, who has been resting comfortably on the bottom row of the rankings since the first week, did not send picks either. He takes over last place, which Tracy had been easily claiming for most of this young season. It could be an interesting side contest to see which of them fights hardest to avoid being in that ignomin-ious spot at the end of the season. Looks like the contest is tight from top to bottom!

Here are some player quotes from Week 6...
Shannon: With the contest so tight, will you pick "safe", or try to make a move?
Lloyd: Safe is what you keep money in. N.F.L. picks makes you crazy!
Kerry: The nice thing about being a cellar dweller is I don't have to be safe
Tracy: I am reluctantly making my picks.... I have been getting waxed every week!!!!
Cody: May the best MAN (me) win!
Jay: What a sh*tty week. If I have another crappy week, I will look to [my young son] Chad to start picking them again.
Phil: I'm still trying to extinguish the flames from last week's torching.
Brad: I canít remember who I picked for Mia/Buf, but I think it was the Dolphins. I am starting to think that was wishful thinking considering the Cowboys receive the Bills #1 in next yearís draft. Can I change my pick to BUF? MIA stinks.
Cody: call me crazy but i think New England has it coming to them... and SEATTLE is going to give it to them HARD and in a DIRTY way... LOL!!!!!
